It’s that time of year again, when you look worse at the start of the night than you do at the end.  You’re  happily running around Dublin from pub to club  in embarrassing old clothes that you’ve ‘upcycled’ into a costume (or if you’re lucky enough to be cash happy, you’ve avoided that shame by hiring one .. boo you!) and you’re shouting rawwrrr at every little child (and old person) that passes by!  Sound familiar! Yep, thought so …

We’re wondering what kind of spook-tacular happenings are going on in Dublin over our Halloween weekend for the cash-strapped, budget partyer?  We’ve been checking out some the best Halloween themed party venues and here’s our top 5… Of course, you’re not interested in this list if you’ve already found a house party to crash, which we all know is the best kind of shindig!

1. Sweeney’s Nightmare on Dame Street III.

First on the list is Sweeney’s Nightmare on Dame Street III. Personally I love Sweeney’s and think I’ll be checking this out tomorrow. Dimestore Recordings are supplying the venue with three floors of music and a broad range of bands. Expect everything from ska to blues, trip hop, punk, drum and bass.  There’s even a best dressed competition and drink promotions. This event kicks off from 7:30-02:30 And best of all it’s free!

2. Lockdown’s Halloween Special

Next up is Lockdown’s Halloween Special . For only €6 you can expect a lot of awesome costumes, fire breathers, dancers and prizes courtesy of Warner Music Ireland. Most importantly there will be a Pendulum DJ set to dance your asses of too. This night is a ticket only event. Click the link and check out the Facebook event page for more info.

3. Gateway’s Halloween Ball

For you folk who like festivals and outdoorsey parties Gateway’s Halloween Ball is for you. This event is slightly pricier due to it’s location but there’s been a lot of buzz around this event with my more festival inclined friends. There will be music ’till the early hours of the morning and a Gramophone Disco, which you Electric Picnic lover’s will be familiar with! Ticket’s are available from Sweeney’s and there is more information on transport etc. on the Facebook event page above.

4. Kinda Halloween 3-Room Thriller.

Somewhere? in the Workman’s club presents it’s Kinda Halloween 3-Room Thriller. The event is free before 11 and €5 after. If you have a costume you get in for €3, and we all love any excuse to dress up! Also the name states, there are 3 rooms of awesome tunes.

5. UV Ghoul Paint Party

And last but not least Fibbers. We’ve all ended up in Fibbers on one crazy night or another, drinking Mad Dog and having the craic with a bunch of metaler’s. Well this Halloween weekend they’re having a UV Ghoul Paint Party. They’re giving away 5,000 free glow sticks, they have face and body painters, it’s on until 3.00am and the drinks are only €2.50. Which I guess makes the €8 entry fee pretty reasonable!
